It's time again to write my Monday blog, but I'm totally knackered because I didn't arrive home until almost 1:00 a.m. this morning. Normally I'm in bed by 10:30 every evening, but this time I was returning home from the funner than a circus, infectiously educational, chock full of amazing people, SCBWI Marvelous Midwest three day conference.

And now that we have that mouthful out of the way, let me share some pictures that tell the story even better than I can of how wonderfully fun kid lit people are.

Yes, this was the night of the costume party; but trust me when I say kidlit people are awesome all the time!

People like Alexandria LaFaye who gave me beautiful advice about writing more lyrically and provided me with a sample of her outstanding accent mimicry skills along with an explanation of what part of the pallet, teeth, and tongue needed to be used for each different brogue.

People Like my friend, Debbie Ohi, who gave up attending a session to catch up with me.

Or Patti Richards, my wise critique partner!

We learned, we laughed, and we made connections all in an effort to be better prepared to offer the world the best children's literature and illustrations.

So while I didn't have time to read and review any books this past week, I did have the time of my life sharing time with amazingly creative people who make great children's books happen!

I hope you enjoyed a brief glimpse into my week as well as this behind the scenes look into the kidlit world. I also hope to see you here again next Monday.

Wishes for a week full of wonder! Aileen
