Labor Day, Northern Lights, and Astromouse

Updated: Sep 30, 2019

Hey everyone! I hope you all enjoyed the long Labor Day weekend. We started the weekend off with another taco night. Only one of Emily's guy friends made it, but he didn't seem to mind being the only rooster in the hen house.

Next, we spent an evening at my brother's house. The smell of freshly cut clover drifted to the air as we made our way to the pond for some evening fishing, and the cousins had a sassy good time.

I read somewhere that the northern lights were supposed to be visible this past weekend, and while I didn't personally see them, I did read a space themed book titled Astromouse by Steve Smallman. Steve was both the illustrator and the author, and I am always amazed when someone is blessed with both talents. Steve's colorful and fun illustrations added dimension to the story of a small mouse who dreamed of going to the moon to snack on stinky cheese. The adventures that occurred when he attempted a trip to the moon were entertaining and sure to make children five to eight smile.

I hope you enjoyed a brief glimpse into my week as well as my foray into the kidlit world. I also hope to see you here again next Monday.

Wishes for a week full of wonder!

Aileen
