It's been a while since I last posted, and all I can say is the last few years have thrown me off my game. It also didn't help that my daughter turned seventeen this January, and I'm left wondering where in the world the time has gone.
But 2022 is off to a promising start, so I thought I'd try to get my blog posts back on track.
In January I renewed my 12x12PB membership and wrote and revised three story drafts. I also participate in Story Storm and came up with thirty new story ideas.
In February I was assigned a critique PBParty group consisting of several lovely ladies who I think I will continue to critique with since we hit it off. With the help of these ladies, I polished my PBParty submission and managed two drafts and revisions for 12x12pb. I also finished my entry for the upcoming 50 Precious Words contest! And last but not least, the book I had requested my library purchase several months ago, Eyes That Kiss In The Corners, had finally arrived and ...
It was worth the wait.
Joanna Ho builds a world with her words that shows even when someones features are different, they are beautiful, celebrated, full of tradition, a link to the past, and a glimpse of the future. I love how her story of a young girl's Asian eyes also spoke of family, acceptance of appearance, and love. And the illustrations by Dung Ho were the icing on the cake so to speak. They were delicate and inspiring and took me to a place I've never been. So if you haven't read this book, I recommend you seek it out at your library. And if they don't have a copy, request it like I did! I hope you've enjoyed a brief glimpse into my week (weeks) as well as my foray into the kidlit world. I also hope to see you here again next time.
Wishes for a week full of wonder!
