This past week the Ohio weather turned from mild to cold practically over night and dare I say it, I saw snow. Granted the cold arrived at the end of October and the snow arrived on the last day of October, but I wasn't ready for either.
This past Friday was also the high school's last home game. Emily always attends home games with her bestie, and this game was no exception. So she put a hoodie over her shirt, fished out her winter jacket and gloves, wore a pair of pants that weren't ripped all over, and headed to the game with Katie where from all accounts they had a great time.
Emily and Katie have been friends since they were quite small. Such a long time, in fact, that they are almost more like sisters. I've loved watching their friendship grow through the years, and the book I read this week titled Croc & Turtle by Mike Wohnoutka made me laugh and think of them.
Croc wants to be the best at something, the best at anything, and Turtle encourages him every step of the way. The only problem is other friends keep doing everything Croc attempts better than him. When Croc begins to lament the fact that all the other animals are better at everything than him, Turtle begins to list all the things Croc is better at them Turtle. But in his attempt to cheer Croc up, Turtle realizes he is actually the worst at everything. However all is not doomed when they discover together the thing they are good at, friendship, is the most important thing of all.
I hope you enjoyed a brief glimpse into my week as well as my foray into the kidlit world. I also hope to see you here again next Monday.
Wishes for a week full of wonder!
Aileen
