Baby's Bedtime!

Summer has officially begun for the Stewart house. All my part time children are converging in our basement. And this momma loves a houseful of giggling, happy teens.

Now it's been a long time since we've had a baby in our home, but my book pick for the week, Peekity Boo written by Heidi Bee Roemer and illustrated by Mike Wohnoutka, took me back to those precious days. My baby is fifteen, but it seems like yesterday that she was a peekity boo baby herself.

Written in rhyme, Peekity Boo is a comfortable and familiar story of a baby's bed time rituals. Mr. Wohnoutka's soft and sweet illustrations area perfect marriage to Ms. Roemer's words and show baby's bathtime, snuggle time, and fun time before being placed in his crib.

The bi-racial parents in this story are a wonderful example of a growing segment of our population. In addition, this story gives bi-racial youngsters a book where they can see themselves and gives children of any color an example of how families can come in a glorious rainbow of skin tones.

In my opinion, this book would make an excellent baby shower gift for expectant parents!

I hope you enjoyed a brief glimpse into my week as well as my foray into the kidlit world. I also hope to see you here again next Monday.

Wishes for a week full of wonder!

Aileen
