Autumn Opportunities and Paper Mice

Autumn usually glides in like golden leaf floating from the sky. But this year, Autumn's arrival has been more like a choppy helicopter ride with the temperature rising into the nineties and just as quickly falling into the fifties. Temperature fluctuations aside, however, autumn offers many opportunities.

It brings bountiful harvest! Bobby is still picking Sun Sugar Cherry tomatoes from our garden, and I'm working on freezer apples and apple butter made from golden delicious apples from a nearby orchard.

It means Emily's yearly decorating fun!

It means great picture book reads like Paper Mice, the tale of two paper mice that somehow come to life at night, explore their world, and find friendship when they find each other. A story with darker than normal illustrations that lend to the illusion of a night time adventure.

And this year it means a new PB Critique Contest sponsored by Brian Gehrlein of Picture Book Spotlight. A marvelous contest opportunity where thirty-five literary individuals from authors and illustrators to agents are sharing their time and talent with the rest of us. A contest you can access by clicking on the link above or the picture below.

I hope you enjoyed a brief glimpse into my week as well as my foray into the kidlit world. I also hope to see you here again next Monday.

Wishes for a week full of wonder!

Aileen
