Iris stood by the mailbox.
“Anything for me?” she asked the mailman when he arrived.
He shook his head no.
Iris shuffled through the mail anyway. She found a letter, a bill, and an advertisement, but nothing for her.
The next day Iris stood tapping the side of the mailbox.
“Anything for me?” She asked the mailman when he arrived

Iris shuffled through the mail anyway. She found seed catalogs, another bill, and a flyer, but nothing for her.
The following day, Iris sat under the mailbox flicking a weed with vengeance.
She sighed. “Anything for me?” she asked the mailman when he arrived.
He smiled and handed her an envelope. She tore into it and pulled out a beautiful card. Inside it read:
Happy Birthday to My Favorite Spring Flower!
Love, Grandma
Iris danced back to the house, clutching the card in both hands.
